Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bobby TupperII! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! TupperII with a lazy takedown attempt and Kawashima counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. TupperII throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kawashima counters with a one-two to the body. TupperII scoring well with a low kick there.
A left and a right from Kawashima both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Bobby TupperII has been cut. Bobby TupperII seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kawashima throws a big shot that misses. TupperII throws a sloppy head kick and Kawashima counters with a stiff right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. TupperII misses with a double jab
and Kawashima counters with a nice uppercut. Kawashima thuds a left hand into TupperII's body. TupperII tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kawashima counters with a nice body shot. TupperII takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. TupperII misses with a takedown attempt - Kawashima sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. TupperII tries for a takedown but Kawashima sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Eiji Kawashima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby TupperII. TupperII tries to clinch but Kawashima moves away and Kawashima counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. No luck with that takedown attempt from TupperII. TupperII looks gassed! Kawashima connects with a nice looking jab.
Kawashima leaves TupperII with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kawashima connects with a nice looking jab.
Kawashima avoids a kick to the body.
Kawashima lands a jab to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kawashima lands with a right hand. TupperII closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kawashima circles away. TupperII looks to clinch letting Kawashima counter with a right hand. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. TupperII fails with the takedown and Kawashima counters with a nice right hand that sends TupperII toppling to the canvas! TupperII scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Kawashima finish him?!
TupperII is rocked!
That has opened up Bobby TupperII's cut even more. Kawashima is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Kawashima steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! TupperII is out on his feet! Kawashima sets himself and nearly takes TupperII's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Eiji Kawashima!
