PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drake Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Riddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercer comes to the cage accompanied by Fabolous-My Time. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chuck Riddle!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Mercer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mercer.

Mercer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mercer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mercer postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mercer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Riddle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Riddle wants to sweep but no luck.

Mercer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Riddle is just riding it out for now. Mercer eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mercer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Mercer misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Mercer has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Riddle's face.

Riddle is squirming around, avoiding Mercer's attempts to control the action.
Mercer pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mercer throws a right hand that Riddle ducks under and follows up with a left that Riddle also avoids with ease.
