Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Hershey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Britva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hershey might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rising to the Top. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Britva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Britva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Hershey pushes Britva up against the ropes in a clinch.

Hershey successfully pulls guard.
Hershey trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Hershey uses the ropes to get back to his feet.

and Britva counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Britva.

Hershey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Britva pulls him back up using the underhooks.

and Hershey counters with a thumping low kick.
Britva fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hershey.

Hershey scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Britva makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Hershey sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Britva's guard.

Britva on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Hershey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Britva sprawls well. Britva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hershey gets slowly back to his feet.

Hershey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hershey is keen to just control but Britva is a slippery customer.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hershey is really struggling to control Britva but he's trying to hold on to the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hershey is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Britva closes the distance and clinches.
Hershey wants to get back to striking at distance but Britva won't allow it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Hershey is trying to break the clinch but Britva has him pressed against the ropes.

and Britva counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hershey is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Hershey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hershey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Britva is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Hershey has taken his back!

and Britva counters with a big head kick but Hershey shrugs it off.

and Hershey counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The crowd cheers as Hershey lands an impressive looking overhand right. Britva doesn't seem phased though.
