PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Linus Backer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Backer has chosen 100 million dollars as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Michael Scott has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Michael Scott seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Linus Backer!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Backer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Scott throws the left hand but Backer avoids the punch easily.
Backer ducks under a wild hook from Scott.
Scott lands a jab-cross combination.
Scott scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Scott looks to land a combination but Backer avoids it well.
Scott swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from Scott.
Scott scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Scott throws a right and a left that Backer avoids nicely.
Scott lands with a hook. Backer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Backer looks for a takedown but Scott sprawls well.
Scott looks to land a right hand but Backer moved out of range.
Some wild striking there from Scott.
Scott lands with a cross.
No joy there for Scott, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice shot lands for Scott.
Scott misses with a wild body shot.
Backer takes a jab right on the kisser.
Scott throws a shot from downtown. Backer moves away and avoids it.
Scott throws a left and a right that both miss

and Backer counters with a shoot takedown. Scott fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Backer drops back looking for a leg! Scott is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scott manages to kick Backer off! Backer jumps back into Scott's guard.
Scott wants to stand but Backer is controlling the position.
Backer wants to pass the guard but Scott is keeping the position.

Backer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Scott is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Backer, into his guard.

Backer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Scott defends well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Backer is looking for a triangle but Scott pushes his legs off easily.

Backer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Scott manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Scott wants to stand but Backer has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Backer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Scott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Backer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Scott manages to get himself to full guard.

Backer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Backer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Backer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Backer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Scott has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Backer off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Backer has a takedown stuffed.
Scott misses with the combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Scott!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Linus Backer dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Scott swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Backer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Backer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Scott is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Scott has escaped and now he's on top!
Scott would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Scott is sitting in close to Backer's body. Backer has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Scott is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Scott is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Backer.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Linus Backer!
