The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandal misses with a two punch combination.

Mandal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fick has momentary wrist control but Mandal slips an elbow through the middle.
Mandal wants to pass the guard but Fick is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mandal is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Fick looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mandal gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Fick is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mandal lets go of the hold and Fick can pop his arm back in it's socket.
