Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Filho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirby Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Filho might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to For Whom The Bell Tolls. Jay comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eye of the tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Filho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kirby Jay! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Filho fails with the takedown enabling Jay to counter with a crisp jab. Filho throws a sloppy head kick enabling Jay to counter with a crisp jab. Filho has his takedown stuffed letting Jay counter with a right hand. Thiago Filho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jay closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Filho to the mat! Filho manages to get full guard. Filho is looking for a triangle but Jay pushes his legs off easily.

Filho has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Filho tries to strike from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jay drops back looking for a leg! Filho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Filho manages to kick Jay off! Jay jumps back into Filho's guard. Filho is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jay defends well. Jay throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Filho works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jay drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jay jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Filho looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jay is one step ahead there. Jay drops back looking for a leg! Filho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Filho manages to kick Jay off! Jay jumps back into Filho's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Filho wants to sweep but no luck. Jay postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Filho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jay, into his guard. Filho is fighting to break Jay's control of his arms but Jay is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Filho is breathing heavily. Filho wants to control from the top but Jay keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Filho throwing strikes but missing. Filho sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jay is working an open guard so Filho takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Filho drives through and clinches with Jay against the cage.
Jay tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jay is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Filho lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Filho taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Jay drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Filho gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Filho misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jay with a poor takedown and Filho counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Thiago Filho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kirby Jay. Jay gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Filho tries to stand but Jay is controlling from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thiago Filho dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Filho tries to clinch but Jay moves out of range. Jay fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Filho sprawls well initially but Jay persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jay looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jay prevents Filho from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jay is breathing heavily. Jay is looking to advance position but Filho won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jay wants to work for an arm triangle but Filho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Filho is controlling Jay's trapped leg to prevent Jay from advancing to side control. Jay is trying to work for a kimura but Filho is defending well.
Filho controlling the position well. Filho is looking to escape. Filho has his hands clasped together around Jay's back. He's all about the action. Filho tries to kick Jay off but Jay keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jay is working for a kimura but Filho is defending it quite comfortably.
Filho gets back to full guard.
Filho has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Filho tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jay drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Jay as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Filho screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Jay! Nice submission victory there!
