Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Storm!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Storm shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Richards counters with a straight right hand.
Storm fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Storm throws a sloppy head kick and Richards moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Storm tries for a takedown but Richards circles away easily
enabling Richards to counter with a crisp jab.
Derek Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Storm.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Storm manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Richards on his heels. He'll look to pass Richards's guard now, I'm sure.
Storm is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Storm drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Storm seems to have locked his on tight now - Richards screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Storm, as he picks up the win!
