Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fergus McDugan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zero kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is José the Bronx Rican - Spittin' Narcicism. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Zero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fergus McDugan! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zero stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Zero wants it to stay on the feet. McDugan has his takedown stuffed and Zero counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McDugan's guard now. McDugan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Zero. Zero throwing strikes but missing. Zero wants to control from the top but McDugan keeps moving. Zero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Zero is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Zero is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. McDugan keeping moving, preventing Zero from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zero with a flurry of punches that miss. Zero throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McDugan works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McDugan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Zero defends well. Zero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McDugan swivels though and keeps the full guard. McDugan being controlled here, momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Zero sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McDugan's guard. Zero is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
McDugan wants to get back to his feet.
Zero thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zero lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Zero trying to control from half guard but McDugan is working away. McDugan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. McDugan pushes Zero off looking to stand but Zero dives back in and keeps control.
McDugan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Zero. Zero is trying to work for a kimura but McDugan is defending well.
Zero is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDugan is trying to control but can't.
Zero is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for McDugan! Zero is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. McDugan is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. McDugan flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Zero anticipates the leg and manages to get behind McDugan and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Zero slips an arm under McDugan chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Zero has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Zero is squeezing on McDugan like an anaconda would it's prey. McDugan fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Max Zero!
