Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Acton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Eel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Acton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kim Eel!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acton takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Acton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Acton trying to control the position from guard on top but Eel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Acton works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Acton is looking for a kimura here.

Acton is looking for a kimura but Eel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Acton to get the leverage.
Acton could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Acton prevents Eel from standing back up.

Acton wants to work for an arm triangle but Eel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Eel tries to get to full guard but Acton has control of the leg.
Acton is controlling the pace.

Acton trying to advance position but Eel counters by regaining guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eel can do anything to dispel that myth.
Eel wants to stand and escape but Acton is having none of it.
Acton content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Acton forces his way into half guard.
Acton wants to advance to full mount but Eel doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Eel wants to get back to his feet but Acton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Eel looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Eel keeping moving, preventing Acton from controlling successfully.

Acton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Acton tries to free his leg and advance position but Eel is retaining full guard.
Eel wants to stand up but Acton is controlling him.
Acton pushing down on Eel's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Eel is looking for a sweep. Acton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Acton wants to work for an arm triangle but Eel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Acton wants to control but Eel is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Acton passes the guard and advances to mount!
A nice elbow there by Acton.
Eel is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Acton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Eel has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Eel is desperately trying to improve his position but Acton has a good base and remains in mount.
Acton trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Eel tries to reverse the position but Acton maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Acton with the ground and pound from mount.
You get the feeling that Eel really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Acton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Eel has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Acton thowing shots but they're missing.

Acton jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Eel is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Eel and Acton has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Eel manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Eel stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Nice sprawl there from Eel as Acton shoots in.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Acton dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Eel with a poor takedown

and Acton counters with a single leg into guard. Eel didn't expect that.
Eel keeping moving, preventing Acton from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Acton with a nice head shot there.
Acton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Acton trying to control but Eel is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Acton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Acton throwing strikes from guard but Eel blocks nicely.
Acton advances to half guard.

Acton seems to be looking for submissions.
Acton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Eel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Eel is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Acton is taking a breather. Eel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Acton trying to control the action but Eel is working from the bottom.

Acton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Acton wants to take a breather but Eel is having none of it.
Joe Acton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Acton passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Eel!
Eel is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Acton has taken his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Acton has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Eel is defending well but eventually Acton manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Eel has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joe Acton!
