Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hoy Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dorian Walker! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson swings widly with a right hand
enabling Walker to counter with a crisp jab. Walker swings for the body but Nelson moves out of range.
A jab from Walker misses. Nelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nelson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nelson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Walker fails with the takedown and Nelson counters with a flying knee. Nice. Walker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nelson's half guard. Nelson pushes Walker off and gets back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Walker blocks a head kick by Nelson.

Nelson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Walker takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson throws a sloppy head kick and Walker moves out of range easily. Walker shoots in but Nelson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nelson connects with a high kick. Walker scores with a takedown into Nelson's guard. Walker is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Nelson pulls Walker in close to his closed guard and prevents Walker from doing any damage or advancing position. Nelson keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass. Walker preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson has his feet on Walker's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Nelson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Walker. Hoy Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dorian Walker. Walker listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Both fighters circling a little - Nelson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Walker looks gassed! This has been an exciting period of action! Nelson lands a high kick to the side of Walker's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Nelson dives into guard, looking to finish.

It looks like Dorian Walker has been cut. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nelson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Walker is still in real trouble! Can Nelson finish him? Walker working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nelson. Walker seems to have recovered his senses. Nelson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson chips away with some ground and pound. Nelson with a nice head shot there. Nelson postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walker can do anything to dispel that myth. Nelson throws a big right hand that misses. Nelson looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Nelson postures up and lands a big shot to Walker's brow. Nelson with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom. Nelson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hoy Nelson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Walker pushes Nelson up against the cage in a clinch. Nelson breaks the clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Nelson with a body punch. A glancing blow. Nelson has closed the distance and engaged Walker in a clinch.
Nelson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Walker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Walker won't allow Nelson to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Walker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nelson connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Walker to the floor! Nelson dives in looking for the finish! Nelson moves nicely into side control. Nelson landing a few strikes. Nelson in side control, throwing shots but Walker defends. Walker is trying to get back to half guard. Walker is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The strikes coming from Nelson are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Nelson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working. Walker parries the strikes from Nelson easily there. Nelson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Walker to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson advances nicely into full mount. Walker tries to hold on but Nelson postures up. Nelson with the ground and pound from mount. Walker is breathing heavily. Nelson controlling his opponent. Walker is in all sorts of trouble here.
Walker tries to lock up and control but Nelson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson landing shots from mount. Walker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker is squirming around, avoiding Nelson's attempts to control the action. Hoy Nelson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Walker manages to regain half guard. Good work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Walker is looking for a sweep. Nelson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nelson moves nicely into side control. Nelson controls the position. Walker is looking for a sweep. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. You can see the frustration on Walker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nelson is looking to take a break and control but Walker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walker avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Nelson. Nelson working away. Nelson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Walker can do to turn this around? Nelson lands a decent elbow from side control. Nelson advances to mount. A nice elbow there by Nelson. Nelson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That has opened up Dorian Walker's cut even more. Nelson landing strikes, looking to finish! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Poor strikes thrown by Nelson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Hoy Nelson dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Dorian Walker's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Nelson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Walker regains guard immediately. Nelson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walker swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nelson wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving. Nelson throws a big right hand that misses. Nelson controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Hoy Nelson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Nelson loads up on a big right hand but Walker slips the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Walker moves away from the strike by Nelson. Walker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nelson throws a head kick that misses. Walker throws a hook to the side of Nelson's head but Nelson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Walker fails with a takedown attempt. Walker gets in close and instigates a clinch. Walker can't break the clinch.
Walker is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Walker is looking to break free of the clinch but Nelson has double underhooks. Walker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nelson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hoy Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dorian Walker. Walker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Nelson connects with a body shot that sends Walker's belly button to the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson lands a high kick to the side of Walker's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Nelson dives into guard, looking to finish. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nelson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Walker is proving hard to escape from. Nelson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Walker works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Nelson controls from within his opponent's guard. Nelson pushes down on Walker's leg and manages to get into half guard. Nelson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Hoy Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson throws a strike but Walker avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Nelson tries to free his leg and advance position but Walker is retaining full guard. Nelson wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving. Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nelson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. A head kick misses from Nelson. Walker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to avoid it but Walker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nelson to the ground. Nelson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nelson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Walker throws a jab when Nelson was well out of range. Walker moves out of range as Nelson throws a body kick.
Walker takes a kick to the side of the head. Hoy Nelson is winning the standup battle so far. Nelson misses with a head kick.

Nelson throws a right hand that Walker ducks under and follows up with a left that Walker also avoids with ease. Dorian Walker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Walker tests Nelson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Nelson tries a head kick but it misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Hoy Nelson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nelson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
