Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Junior Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sylvain Lacasse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sylvain Lacasse has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Junior Castro's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Junior Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sylvain Lacasse! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castro fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lacasse misses with a lunging right hand
and Castro counters with a nice double leg into guard. Castro trying to control the position from guard on top but Lacasse is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lacasse has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lacasse not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Castro not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lacasse looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Castro misses with a takedown and Lacasse counters with a nice double leg into side control. Castro won't be happy with that. Castro tries to bench press Lacasse off him but Lacasse keeps the position. Castro gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Lacasse prevents Castro from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Castro moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lacasse is working Castro over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Lacasse landing some decent shots from guard. Castro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lacasse controls the pace. Let's hope that Lacasse has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Lacasse stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Castro swivels though and keeps the full guard. Castro trying to keep a closed guard but Lacasse is proving a slippery customer.
Lacasse prevents Castro from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lacasse trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Castro manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Castro wants to control from the top but Lacasse keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Lacasse is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Castro trying to control but Lacasse is working from the bottom.
We're going to have a standup here because Junior Castro wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Castro has his takedown stuffed and Lacasse counters with a right hand to the body. Lacasse tries to bum rush Castro with a series of wild strikes but Castro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Castro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Castro with a poor takedown and Lacasse connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junior Castro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lacasse changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Castro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lacasse is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Castro is trying to escape and Lacasse transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Castro is forced to tap! Nice work there by Lacasse! Very nice indeed!
