Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Byron Northview (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Gunnar Owens enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Northview gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Owens's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Northview pulls Owens in close to his closed guard and prevents Owens from doing any damage or advancing position.
Owens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Owens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Northview wants to get back to his feet but Owens passes into half guard.
Well, if Owens is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Owens seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Northview does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Owens might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Northview kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Owens wants to take a breather but Northview is having none of it.
Owens looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Northview with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

so Owens counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Owens stays in close to Northview's body and controls the position.
Northview wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Owens is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Gunnar Owens wasn't active enough on the ground.
Northview with a poor takedown
and Owens counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Owens feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Owens sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Northview's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Owens is looking to take a break and control but Northview is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Owens is working for a submission of some sort.
Owens stands up and beckons Northview to join him on the feet.

Owens throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Northview tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Owens is in Northview's guard.
Owens wants to control from the top but Northview keeps moving.
Owens is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owens stands up over Northview, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Owens thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Owens wants to pass the guard but Northview is keeping the position.
Northview wants to stand and escape but Owens is having none of it.
Owens passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Northview tries to control but Owens manages to take his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Owens has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Northview is defending well but eventually Owens manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Northview has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gunnar Owens!
