Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mick Gatto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jere Ruutikainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gatto might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to He's a pirate. Jere Ruutikainen is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mick Gatto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jere Ruutikainen! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruutikainen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ruutikainen passes to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gatto is trying to buck Ruutikainen off. Gatto is being controlled here. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ruutikainen landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Ruutikainen controls the position from side control. Ruutikainen lands a nice forearm strike. Ruutikainen controlling the position from side mount. Gatto wants to get back to his feet but Ruutikainen drags him back down. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gatto is trying to escape the position but Ruutikainen is controlling the position. Gatto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gatto tries to get out of the position.

Jere Ruutikainen has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Ruutikainen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gatto was covering up waiting for the punch and Ruutikainen finishes the takedown easily into guard. Ruutikainen stops Gatto from standing up. Ruutikainen scoring with some ground and pound. Ruutikainen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Ruutikainen landing with the ground and pound. Ruutikainen lands a couple of decent looking shots. Gatto is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ruutikainen is controlling him. Ruutikainen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruutikainen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gatto to his feet. Gatto fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ruutikainen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Gatto wants to get back to his feet. Ruutikainen moves nicely into side control. Gatto is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ruutikainen is controlling him well. Ruutikainen is chipping away with strikes.
Gatto wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Gatto is breathing heavily. Ruutikainen controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruutikainen stands up and we're back to a striking position. Gatto waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ruutikainen. Gatto throws a right and a left that both miss. Ruutikainen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Gatto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Ruutikainen throws a jab when Gatto was well out of range. Jere Ruutikainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A momentary lapse in concentration from Gatto enables Ruutikainen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gatto manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ruutikainen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gatto is looking to stand up but Ruutikainen isn't so interested in that idea. Ruutikainen stands up and waves to Gatto to follow him. Gatto takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruutikainen drives through with a takedown into guard. Ruutikainen passes easily into side control. Nice work. You can see the frustration on Gatto's face as Ruutikainen controls the position. Ruutikainen tries for a kimura but Gatto is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ruutikainen decides to stand back up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ruutikainen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ruutikainen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ruutikainen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Gatto is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jere Ruutikainen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Gatto makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Ruutikainen scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Gatto lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Gatto takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gatto slips under a jab. Gatto takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Ruutikainen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. No joy there for Gatto, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gatto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ruutikainen is fending him off so far but Gatto persists. Nope, Ruutikainen circles away and we're back to standing. Ruutikainen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Gatto avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ruutikainen stands up and waves to Gatto to follow him. Ruutikainen gets a takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gatto is trying to stand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruutikainen moves into full mount! Gatto won't be happy about that! Ruutikainen landing strikes from the mount. Ruutikainen looking to control and managing it successfully. Ruutikainen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Let's hope that Ruutikainen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ruutikainen slows the pace down in half guard. Ruutikainen uses his free foot to push down on Gatto's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gatto. Ruutikainen with a couple of short strikes. Gatto is trying to stand up. Ruutikainen lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gatto or not. Ruutikainen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gatto avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Mick Gatto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jere Ruutikainen. Gatto is trying to push Ruutikainen away but Ruutikainen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ruutikainen lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gatto or not. Gatto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gatto misses with the combination.

And that's the end of the fight! Jere Ruutikainen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ruutikainen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
