Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garen Crownguard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rickson Gracie could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Garen Crownguard's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickson Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Garen Crownguard! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crownguard looks to land a left hand but Gracie moved out of range nicely. Gracie wants to clinch but Crownguard slips to the side and Crownguard counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Gracie on the wrong end of a nice jab. Gracie dives in and grabs Crownguard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Crownguard pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out. Gracie tries to clinch but Crownguard moves away and Crownguard counters with a left to the body. Gracie tries to clinch up and Crownguard counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crownguard but Crownguard pushes him off and we're back to square one. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crownguard as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rickson Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Crownguard lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nice sprawl there from Crownguard as Gracie shoots in. Crownguard ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gracie moves away. Crownguard is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Crownguard circles away. Gracie wants to clinch and Crownguard counters with a left to the body. Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Crownguard is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Crownguard circles away and we're back to standing. A nice combination there by Crownguard.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Crownguard pinned against the cage. Crownguard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gracie is breathing heavily. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt. A left and a right from Crownguard both land. Nice combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Crownguard which made him look bad. Crownguard scores with the left hand. Gracie knows he should have avoided that one. Gracie drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Crownguard sizes up Gracie with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Gracie wants to clinch and Crownguard counters with a lovely shot to the body. Crownguard fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Crownguard connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crownguard as he jumps to the side. Crownguard throws a series of strikes that have Gracie backpedaling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Crownguard checks a leg kick. Gracie needs to keep his hands up - Crownguard had a free shot at his head there. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Crownguard. Donk. Crownguard catches Gracie right on the button with a cross. Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Gracie has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gracie there as he acknowledges the shot. Nice body punch from Crownguard. Gracie wants to clinch but Crownguard slips to the side and Crownguard connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crownguard as he jumps to the side. Crownguard defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie. Rickson Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Crownguard lands a two punch combo.
Crownguard is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Gracie had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Gracie looks to clinch and Crownguard counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gracie tries for a takedown but Crownguard circles away easily and Crownguard counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Gracie wants to clinch letting Crownguard counter with a right hand. Gracie walks into a straight right hand from Crownguard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Garen Crownguard dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Gracie attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Gracie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Crownguard's guard. Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Crownguard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Crownguard manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Crownguard's guard. Crownguard utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gracie loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gracie postures up in Crownguard's guard and throws a big left but Crownguard blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Crownguard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie stands and throws Crownguard's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crownguard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. An elbow from Gracie crashes against the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Crownguard has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Crownguard is looking to regain half guard here but Gracie keeps moving and retains side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Crownguard can do anything to dispel that myth. Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Crownguard, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Crownguard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Crownguard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Crownguard, who protects the arm well.

Rickson Gracie dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Crownguard lands with a shot to the body. Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Crownguard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Crownguard as he avoids it easily. Crownguard displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rickson Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Crownguard sprawls well. Crownguard wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet. Crownguard slaps away a takedown attempt from Gracie, before circling back to the center of the mat. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crownguard lands a lovely overhand right.
That's one minute gone in the round. A combination from Crownguard does no damage. Crownguard jabbing away but nothing is landing. Nice shot lands for Crownguard. Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Crownguard tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Crownguard manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Crownguard lands a really nice looking cross but Gracie seems unphased.
Garen Crownguard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Crownguard displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie. Gracie closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Crownguard darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Gracie shoots in but Crownguard avoids the takedown attempt easily. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nice uppercut lands for Crownguard. That snapped Gracie's head back.
Garen Crownguard seems to be getting the better of the standup. Crownguard thuds a left hand into Gracie's body. Crownguard displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie. Crownguard throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crownguard getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Crownguard sprawls well. Crownguard wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet. Crownguard clobbers Gracie with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Gracie has his takedown stuffed letting Crownguard counter with a right hand. Nice cross by Crownguard. Crownguard uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Gracie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The crowd cheers as Crownguard lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gracie doesn't seem phased though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Crownguard was covering up waiting for the punch and Gracie finishes the takedown easily into guard. Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Crownguard is retaining full guard. Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Crownguard trying to keep a closed guard but Gracie is proving a slippery customer.
And that's the end of the fight! Garen Crownguard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Crownguard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
