The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez misses with an uppercut
and Ranzi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hernandez thows a body shot but no joy.
Hernandez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ranzi wants to clinch
and Hernandez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ranzi wants to clinch but Hernandez slips to the side
and Hernandez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Gian Matteo Ranzi has been cut.
Hernandez scores with a sloppy right hand. Ranzi should have avoided that one.
Nice uppercut there from Hernandez.
A big left from Hernandez misses.
Hernandez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ranzi.

Ranzi looks to clinch
and Hernandez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Hernandez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Ranzi tries to grapple but his opponent circles

Hernandez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ranzi looks to clinch
enabling Hernandez to counter with a crisp jab.
Hernandez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ranzi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ranzi.
Come on Hernandez - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Still in the clinch, Hernandez scores with a nice short uppercut.
Hernandez misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hernandez digs a right hand underneath Ranzi's ribcage. Ranzi let out a lung full of air as it connected.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hernandez gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Hernandez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Hernandez is nestled in close to Ranzi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ranzi gets back to full guard.
Hernandez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ranzi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ranzi looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Hernandez is defending well. Ranzi quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Hernandez has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Ranzi celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
