PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kunta Kinte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew McPain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kinte's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Baka Survivor!. McPain is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Killing in the Name. Matthew McPain is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from McPain misses.

and McPain counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Kinte goes for an armbar but McPain turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from McPain.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McPain got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kinte has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McPain has managed to get both his arms back between Kinte's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kinte loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kinte is in close to McPain's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Kinte postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kinte throws a strike but McPain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kinte tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McPain has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McPain avoids the attempt from Kinte to control.

Kinte sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kinte tries to roll over but McPain keeps him under control.

Kinte is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McPain pulls his head out easily.
McPain tries to stand and escape but Kinte is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kinte tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Kinte working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kinte creates some space and throws a big elbow, but McPain sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

McPain dodges the ground and pound from Kinte.
McPain avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Kinte.
Kinte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McPain wants to control but Kinte postures up.
Kinte in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
McPain avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Kinte.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McPain regains half guard.
Kinte thows a huge punch but McPain dodges it nicely.
Kinte thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McPain's head.
Kunta Kinte overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kinte passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McPain!

Kinte swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and McPain is now in Kinte's guard. A big mistake from Kinte there, giving up the dominant position!

Kinte throws his legs up looking for a submission but McPain uses it to pass to side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kinte is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McPain's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kunta Kinte will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kinte looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

McPain lands with a hook. Kinte tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
