Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Baker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Baker.
Frank Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baker misses with a takedown attempt - Thomas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Thomas throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Baker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thomas to the mat! Thomas manages to get full guard.
Baker trying to control but Thomas is working from the bottom.
Thomas controls Baker momentarily but Baker frees himself.
Thomas wants to stand and escape but Baker is having none of it.

Baker stands up from Thomas's guard - Baker perhaps looking for a knockout.
Thomas explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Thomas lands a head kick. Baker smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Frank Baker has been cut.

Thomas lands a nice shot that snaps Baker's head back.
Thomas goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Baker shoots in for a double leg but Thomas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Baker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Baker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Baker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thomas is just riding it out for now. Baker eventually gives up the hold.
Baker is breathing heavily.
Baker passes to side control.
Baker creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Thomas sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baker is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thomas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Baker tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Baker in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Baker looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Thomas is avoiding damage well.

Baker decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Good shot there by Thomas.
Thomas with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Thomas drives through and clinches with Baker against the cage.

Thomas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thomas pushes Baker away with a front kick.
Jab, jab by Thomas - just one landing.
Baker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Thomas swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Baker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thomas gets caught flat footed, as Baker shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Baker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Baker postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Thomas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Baker drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thomas dives on top into guard.

Baker throws his legs up looking for a submission but Thomas uses it to pass to side control.
Baker is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Thomas's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Baker works his way to full guard. Good work.

Thomas takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Baker is on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Baker throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Baker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thomas is keeping the position for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baker is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Thomas will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Thomas tries to bum rush Baker with a series of wild strikes but Baker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Baker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Baker wants to pass the guard but Thomas is keeping the position.

Baker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Baker postures up in Thomas's guard and throws a big left but Thomas blocks it.
Baker throwing strikes but missing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thomas is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Thomas lands a decent shot there.
Baker passes into half guard.

Baker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Thomas's head.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Thomas lands a head kick!
Frank Thomas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Thomas connects with a high kick.
Thomas pushes Baker away with a front kick.
Baker on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Baker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thomas tries to avoid it but Baker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thomas to the ground. Thomas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Baker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thomas circles away.
Baker fails to land the takedown.

Baker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thomas's guard.

Baker has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Baker goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Thomas turns into him and now he's in Baker's guard.

Baker scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Baker lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Thomas is in all sorts of trouble here.
Thomas is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Frank Baker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thomas takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Baker wants to finish this one by submission but Thomas is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Baker.

Baker is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thomas can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Baker unloads with some shots from mount but Thomas bucks and avoids them well.
Thomas is trying to escape the mount.
Thomas is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Baker landing strikes from the mount.
Thomas is looking to improve his position but Baker isn't that keen on the idea.

Baker goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Thomas is on top in guard.
Baker is trying to keep Thomas in close.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Baker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Baker fails with the takedown
and Thomas makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Thomas throws a head kick but Baker moves out of range.
Thomas throws a front kick that sends Baker stumbling back into the cage.

Baker shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Baker is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Thomas!

Thomas has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Baker's lack of action.
Thomas is not content to let Baker control the position.
Thomas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Baker is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Baker is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Thomas!

BOOM! Baker connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Baker lands with some strikes.

Thomas has left one of his arms exposed and Baker doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Thomas screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Baker!
