Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Natty Glace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Salamanca! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Glace scores with a takedown into Salamanca's guard. Glace looking to pass the guard. Salamanca trying to control the position.
Glace avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Glace wants to pass the guard but Salamanca is keeping the position. Glace's corner is telling him to maintain position. Glace seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salamanca for as long as he can get away with. Glace stops Salamanca from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Glace fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Glace swinging wildly here.
Glace gets a takedown into half guard. Glace is taking a breather. Salamanca says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Salamanca is looking to control Glace's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Salamanca avoid being mounted? Salamanca works his way to full guard. Good work. Glace seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Glace looking to pass the guard. Salamanca is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Glace is controlling him. Glace looking to control the position here, rather than advance. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Salamanca wants to stand and escape but Glace is having none of it. Salamanca had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Glace defends it easily. Glace is stalling in the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Glace trying to control the position from guard on top but Salamanca is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Natty Glace wasn't doing enough on the ground. Glace doesn't succeed with the takedown and Salamanca connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Salamanca tries to clinch but Glace moves away and Glace counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Salamanca keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Salamanca wants to control but Glace is keeping busy and won't allow it. Salamanca tries to roll over but Glace keeps him under control. Salamanca trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Glace seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Glace feints and as Salamanca raises his hands in defense, Glace changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Salamanca wants to sweep but no luck. Glace trying to control but Salamanca is working from the bottom. Salamanca looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Glace wants to control from the top but Salamanca keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Natty Glace dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Glace shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Glace trying to control the pace. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Glace here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Salamanca is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Glace jumps into side control! Salamanca is trying to buck Glace off. Glace wants to lay and pray for a moment but Salamanca keeps working. Glace is trying to get an arm triangle but Salamanca is defending well. Salamanca sneaks back into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salamanca trying to hold on to Glace's head to control him but Glace postures up.
Glace prevents Salamanca from standing back up.
Salamanca is looking to improve his position.
Salamanca is trying to stand up here but Glace is controlling him well. Salamanca is pressing down on Glace's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Glace won't allow Salamanca to get back to his feet. Glace is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Salamanca wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Salamanca manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Glace manages to get himself to full guard.
Salamanca loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Glace looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Glace is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Natty Glace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Glace working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Salamanca doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Salamanca manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Salamanca wants to control from the top but Glace keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Salamanca might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Glace kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Salamanca looking to improve position, pressing down on Glace's thigh with his hand. Glace seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Salamanca paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Salamanca's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Glace picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
