The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones tries for a takedown but Petri circles away easily and Petri counters with a stiff right hand. Jones gets off balance looking for a body kick and Petri counters with a lovely straight right hand! Petri connects with a high kick.
It looks like Jerry Jones has been cut. Some wild striking there from Petri.
Jones slips a straight right by Petri. Petri throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jones. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Petri throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Petri stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Petri wants it to stay on the feet. James Petri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Jones. Jones gets off balance looking for a body kick and Petri counters with a straight right hand. Petri defending well as Jones loads up on a big left hand. Jones ducks under a wild hook from Petri. Jerry Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petri misses with a looping left. Jones moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones looks gassed! Petri drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Petri as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Jones screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Petri! Nice submission victory there!
