Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pullo Kalevi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Griigor Eriicson!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalevi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Eriicson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kalevi asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Eriicson is letting Kalevi control him for a moment.
Eriicson wants to get back to his feet but Kalevi is dominant here and he's now got Eriicson's back!
Eriicson controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Eriicson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kalevi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Pullo Kalevi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Eriicson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Eriicson thows a body shot but no joy.
Eriicson throws a hook to the side of Kalevi's head but Kalevi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Eriicson is trying to stand back up but Kalevi is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pullo Kalevi.
The fighters circling - Eriicson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Kalevi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Eriicson was covering up waiting for the punch and Kalevi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Eriicson wants to get back to his feet but Kalevi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Eriicson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kalevi dives into side control.
Kalevi takes a little break here. Eriicson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Kalevi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Eriicson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kalevi on the side of the head.

Kalevi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Eriicson wants to stand but Kalevi is controlling the position.

Kalevi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kalevi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Eriicson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kalevi manages to pass to side control.
Kalevi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Eriicson is trying to escape back to his feet but Kalevi uses the scramble to pass into side control.

What can Eriicson do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kalevi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pullo Kalevi.
Eriicson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kalevi circles away quickly and effectively.

Kalevi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kalevi is taking a breather. Eriicson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kalevi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Eriicson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Eriicson tries to kick Kalevi off but Kalevi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kalevi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kalevi content to control rather than advance.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pullo Kalevi.

Kalevi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Eriicson is looking to stand up but Kalevi isn't so interested in that idea.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kalevi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
