Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cam Gatesy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gatesy's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Let's go ! . Brian McGuire has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brian McGuire!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatesy misses with a takedown attempt

and McGuire counters with a single leg into guard. Gatesy didn't expect that.
McGuire looking to sit in guard and control but Gatesy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

McGuire looking for a guillotine here but Gatesy defends easily.

Gatesy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McGuire is desperately trying to improve his position but Gatesy has a good base and remains in mount.

McGuire is trying to reverse the position but instead Gatesy has taken his back - oops!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGuire is on top in guard.
McGuire wants to control from the top but Gatesy keeps moving.

That was a close round but I would say that Cam Gatesy will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McGuire lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Cam Gatesy has been cut.
Gatesy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and McGuire counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gatesy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGuire wants to control from the top but Gatesy keeps moving.

McGuire has gone for a leg lock! Gatesy slips out almost immediately though and dives into McGuire's guard.

Cam Gatesy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McGuire lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gatesy!
Gatesy is looking to improve his position but McGuire isn't that keen on the idea.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gatesy tries to lock up and control but McGuire gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

McGuire is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gatesy has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Brian McGuire showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


McGuire has his takedown stuffed
and Gatesy counters with a good, hard body kick but McGuire shrugs it off.
Gatesy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McGuire stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gatesy stands and throws McGuire's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gatesy advances nicely into full mount.
Gatesy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McGuire takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McGuire holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gatesy tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gatesy wants to control the pace but McGuire is squirming around nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
You can see the frustration on McGuire's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
McGuire looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
McGuire turns into Gatesy and is now in his guard.

McGuire drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gatesy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now McGuire has Gatesy in his guard.

McGuire throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gatesy escapes and throws McGuire's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Gatesy wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGuire keeps working.
McGuire gets back to half guard.
McGuire trying to control but Gatesy postures up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gatesy passes the guard and advances to mount!
McGuire tries to reverse the position but Gatesy maintains control.
Gatesy content just to control the position here.
McGuire is wriggling around trying to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cam Gatesy showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gatesy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
