Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Poirier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dustin Poirier! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller shoots and misses and Poirier counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Poirier throws a series of punches but Miller avoids them all with ease. Miller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Poirier looks to land a combination but Miller avoids it well. Some wild striking there from Miller.
Miller tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Poirier counters with a lovely shot to the body. Miller really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Poirier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Miller circles away quickly and effectively. Poirier's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Poirier duly obliges. Poirier falls off balance throwing a combination
and Miller counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Miller looking to sit in guard and control but Poirier gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Poirier sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poirier trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Poirier engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Poirier trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Poirier is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Miller keeping full guard, as Poirier tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dustin Poirier has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Miller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Poirier's waist but Poirier gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Miller off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lenny Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Poirier looks to throw a body kick and Miller counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Poirier works his way to full guard. Good work. Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Miller looking to sit in guard and control but Poirier gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Miller is trying to control the position but Poirier postures up. Miller is breathing heavily. Poirier passes into half guard. Poirier is thwarting Miller's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Poirier controlling the action here. Poirier prevents Miller from improving his position. Poirier is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Poirier is looking to pass Miller's guard but actually Miller recovers to full guard. Poirier sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Poirier wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving. Miller not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Miller tries to clinch but fails miserably enabling Poirier to counter with a crisp jab. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A lazy body kick from Poirier and Miller moves into the clinch. Poirier tries to pull guard but Miller holds him up against the cage and eventually Poirier drops back down to his feet.
Poirier tries to break free but Miller pushes him back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lenny Miller will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Miller is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Poirier is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Poirier has escaped and now he's on top! Poirier trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Miller looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Poirier tries to free his leg and advance position but Miller is retaining full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Poirier controls from within his opponent's guard. Poirier trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poirier advances position into side control! Poirier is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Poirier wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miller, who protects the arm well. Miller is trying to control Poirier's posture but Poirier avoids it. Poirier working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Poirier is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Miller's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Poirier is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Miller is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Poirier tries for a kimura but Miller is defending well. You can see the frustration on Miller's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Poirier tries for a kimura but Miller is defending well. Poirier thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Miller is looking to reverse the position. Poirier wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miller, who protects the arm well. Miller struggling a bit here. Poirier controlling from side mount. Poirier has an Americana. Miller didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Poirier is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Poirier hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
