Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vasechkin Nikolai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Boxer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolai ducks under a wild hook from Boxer.
Boxer is looking to clinch but Nikolai is avoiding it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nikolai.

Boxer lands with a good body shot.
Boxer misses with a two punch combination.
Boxer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like Vasechkin Nikolai has been cut.
Nikolai swats away the attempt to clinch by Boxer.

Boxer tries to clinch but Nikolai moves out of range.

Nikolai is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Boxer's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Boxer connects with the punch.

This has been an exciting period of action!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Boxer lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nikolai tries a head kick but it misses.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Nikolai seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boxer for as long as he can get away with.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Boxer tries to clinch up but Nikolai circles away and keeps his distance.

Nikolai shoots in and bounces Boxer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Nikolai slips nicely into half guard.
Nikolai is controlling the pace.

Nikolai's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boxer's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Boxer tries to clinch up

and Nikolai decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Boxer's guard.

Boxer pushes Nikolai off looking to stand but Nikolai dives back in and keeps control.

Nikolai uses his free foot to push down on Boxer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Boxer.

Nikolai throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boxer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nikolai is in Boxer's guard.

Nikolai doesn't manage to clinch there - Boxer circles away.
Nikolai displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Boxer throws out the jab.

Boxer throws the left hand but Nikolai avoids the punch easily.
Boxer tries to bum rush Nikolai with a series of wild strikes but Nikolai uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jeff Boxer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boxer uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Nikolai has time to react.

Nikolai shoots in and bounces Boxer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Nikolai passes Boxer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Nikolai looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Vasechkin Nikolai has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Boxer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nikolai throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Jeff Boxer has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nikolai doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boxer throws a series of punches but Nikolai moves out of range.
Nikolai tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boxer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vasechkin Nikolai is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boxer misses with a combination

and Nikolai counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Boxer!

And that's the end of the fight!
Vasechkin Nikolai showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nikolai, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
