Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Rua!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez with a poor takedown
and Rua counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sanchez shoots for a takedown but Rua saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Sanchez counters with a takedown into side control.
Sanchez looks up at the clock and then as Rua takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sanchez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sanchez prevents Rua from escaping the position.

Sanchez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rua knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sanchez is trying to get an arm triangle but Rua is defending well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rua keeps working.
Sanchez cracks Rua with a big right hand but Rua just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Sanchez looks up at the clock and then as Rua takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sanchez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Sanchez seems to be looking for submissions.
Sanchez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Sanchez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rua sees it coming and defends easily.

Sanchez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rua blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sanchez.
Sanchez drops an elbow to the side of Rua's head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sanchez lands a nice short elbow.

Rua wants to control but Sanchez is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez is trying to work for a kimura but Rua is defending well.
Rua really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sanchez winds up and cracks Rua with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Rua kicks off Sanchez and gets to his feet.

Sanchez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rua looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sanchez lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Sanchez dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rua throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sanchez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Rua sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rua wants to clinch.
Andre Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sanchez shoots and misses
and Rua connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rua throws a right and a left that Sanchez avoids nicely.
Rua throws a nice head kick!

Sanchez clinches.
Sanchez gets underhooks to prevent Rua's takedown attempt.
Sanchez takes a knee to the side of the body.
Rua stalling in the clinch but Sanchez improves position.

Sanchez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sanchez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sanchez is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rua pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Rua breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Sanchez lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Sanchez won't let Rua get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Sanchez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rua's face.
Sanchez connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Rua tries to hold on but Sanchez pushes him away.
Sanchez lands a big elbow.

Rua in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Sanchez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rua is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rua and Sanchez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sanchez has hold of Rua's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Rua seems comfortable defending it but Sanchez has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Rua is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Rua is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sanchez couldn't care less - he's delighted!
