PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vic Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chung Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes to the cage accompanied by I Got A Feeling. Lee has chosen Fight to survive as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vic Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chung Lee!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lee tries to clinch up.
Lee lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Stone misses with a double jab
and Lee counters with a head kick.
Lee falls off balance throwing a combination
and Stone makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Lee throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stone.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee wants to clinch.
Stone throws an off balance right hand
and Lee counters with a left and a right that stings Stone.
Stone misses with an uppercut
and Lee counters with a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lee.
Lee tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Stone counters with a right hand to the body.
Lee wants to clinch but Stone slips to the side
and Stone counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Lee throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stone.
Lee throws a right hand that Stone ducks under and follows up with a left that Stone also avoids with ease.
Lee pivots, looking for a leg kick but Stone is out of range and Lee settles back down.
Stone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lee.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stone dodges the punch combination from Lee.

Lee clinches up with Stone and pushes him back against the cage.
Lee blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Stone wants to break free but Lee has control.

Stone has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lee uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Stone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Lee has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Stone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lee manages to get himself to full guard.
Stone prevents Lee from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stone tries to stand but Lee is controlling from the bottom.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stone won't allow Lee to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Stone trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stone wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position.
Lee keeping moving, preventing Stone from controlling successfully.
Stone passes Lee's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lee is trying to stand.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Stone seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lee pushes Stone off looking to stand but Stone dives back in and keeps control.
Stone uses his free foot to push down on Lee's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lee.

Lee defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Stone.

Stone looking to secure an arm triangle but Lee defends it well.
Stone wants to control the pace but Lee is squirming around nicely.

Stone is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lee can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Lee trying desperately to get to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vic Stone dominated that round.
That's time! Stone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Stone counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Stone works over Lee with some ground and pound from guard.
Stone trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom.
Lee wants to stand but Stone is controlling the position.
Stone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lee is looking to stand up but Stone isn't so interested in that idea.
Stone trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vic Stone has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lee misses with a wild body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Stone fails with the takedown.
Lee lands a high kick!
Stone misses with a hook to the body
and Lee counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Stone is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Stone loads up on a big right hand but Lee slips the punch.
Stone throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lee counters with a two punch combo.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Stone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stone looks to land a combination. Lee sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Stone avoids the head kick by Lee.
Lee throws a right and a left that Stone avoids nicely.
Chung Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stone lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Lee with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Horrible takedown by Stone or perhaps it was just good defense by Lee which made him look bad.
Stone misses the jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stone tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lee is able to avoid easily.
Stone blocks a head kick by Lee.
Lee throws a combination that misses
and Stone counters with a left to the body.
Stone tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lee was well out of range. Poor timing from Stone.
Stone fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lee ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Stone connects with a body shot that sends Lee's belly button to the back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee looks for the body kick but Stone saw that one coming.
Lee displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stone throws out the jab.
Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lee tries a head kick but it misses.
Stone is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Lee's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Lee misses with the combination.
Lee misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A low kick from Stone misses
and Lee counters with a series of strikes. Stone will be more careful next time no doubt.
Stone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vic Stone dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Lee gets caught flat footed, as Stone shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Stone gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Lee scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Lee throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lee slips a jab and a cross from Stone.
Lee displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stone throws out the jab.
Lee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Stone counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lee's guard now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone looking to pass the guard.

Lee pushes Stone off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Stone throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lee pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Stone back to the cage. Lee follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Stone misses with an uppercut
and Lee counters with a big head kick but Stone shrugs it off.
Lee lands a head kick. Stone smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Stone connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Lee stalks Stone and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Stone's face. Stone staggers backwards, shaken.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee throws a sloppy head kick
and Stone counters with a left to the body.
Lee misses with a series of wild punches.
Stone dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lee. That did some damage!
Stone dives in and grabs Lee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lee pushes down on Stone's head and hops out.
Lee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Stone counters with a left to the body.

Stone tries to keep at a distance but Lee has taken the fight into the clinch.
Stone wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lee has him pressed against the cage.
Stone has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lee is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stone has a couple of punches blocked by Lee.
Lee landing knees to the head.
Lee prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vic Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice elbow from Lee.
Stone fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Lee working Stone over with knees to the body.

Lee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stone is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lee.
Lee tries to clinch but Stone moves out of range.
Stone throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lee on the side of the head.
Lee scores with a one two! Stone had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Stone misses with a lunging right hand
and Lee counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Chung Lee seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lee pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Stone counters with a thumping low kick.
Lee wants to clinch.
Stone throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lee counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Lee throws a head kick that Stone semi-blocks.
Lee lands a high kick!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lee lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chung Lee.
I think Stone has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
