0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Hughes! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mitchell closes the distance but Hughes moves to the side and Hughes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hughes swats away the attempt to clinch by Mitchell. Mitchell moves to clinch but Hughes breaks away and Hughes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hughes misses with a combination
and Mitchell holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Hughes fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mitchell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hughes.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hughes can do anything to dispel that myth. Mitchell looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Mitchell throwing strikes here but Hughes is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Mitchell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hughes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hughes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mitchell passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Hughes! Hughes is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Hughes is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Mitchell trying to control but he's not successful this time. Hughes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Poor strikes thrown by Mitchell there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mitchell working for a guillotine from mount but Hughes is in no mood to give up. Mitchell thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

and Mitchell counters by clinching up. Mitchell throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hughes blocks it with crossed arms. Hughes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mitchell pulls him back up using the underhooks. Mitchell on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mitchell darts in trying to clinch and Hughes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Mitchell gets control of Hughes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mitchell will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Hughes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mitchell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hughes is one step ahead there. Mitchell has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hughes doesn't defend quickly enough and Mitchell has managed to lock this one up! Can Hughes escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Mitchell on a fantastic submission victory.
