PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karate Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Tinker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kid comes into the arena with Go to sleep blaring out of the sound system. Tinker is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Stranglehold. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karate Kid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, The Tinker!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kid has his takedown stuffed
and Tinker counters with a stiff right hand.
Kid misses with a lunging right hand
and Tinker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kid throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Tinker.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kid tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A low kick from Kid is predictable there
and Tinker counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kid thows a leg kick but Tinker checks it
and Tinker counters with a nice uppercut.
Kid throws a lazy head kick
and Tinker counters with a straight right hand.
Kid throws a lazy body kick
and Tinker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Tinker takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Tinker throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Kid misses with a head kick.

and Tinker counters with a single leg into guard. Kid didn't expect that.
Tinker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kid works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Tinker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Tinker trying to control the position from guard on top but Kid is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tinker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. The Tinker was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Karate Kid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kid shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tinker is trying to defend but Kid finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Tinker is doing well to control the position and prevent Kid from advancing to side control.

Kid seems to be looking for submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Tinker makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kid throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tinker takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Tinker cracks a nice hook into Kid's ribs.
Kid throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kid lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Tinker blocks a head kick by Kid.
Kid tries for a takedown but Tinker circles away easily
and Tinker counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kid missing with a left hand there. Tinker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Tinker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kid is trying to control but can't.

Kid has hold of Tinker's hands but Tinker slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kid is looking for a sweep. Tinker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kid wants to control but Tinker is keeping busy.

Kid is trying to maintain the position but Tinker is very close to passing his half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kid pushes Tinker off looking to stand but Tinker dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kid isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tinker stacks Kid on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tinker!

The Tinker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

enabling Tinker to counter with a crisp jab.
Kid jabs Tinker to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Tinker takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kid attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kid is looking to wear down Tinker with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Tinker counters with a low kick, right behind Kid 's knee.

Good leg kick by Tinker there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tinker has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kid finds it's way round the side to connect with Tinker's head.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kid takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kid throws a lazy head kick
and Tinker counters with a good low kick that Kid was not able to check.
Tinker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kid.
Kid on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Tinker. Tinker obviously looking to wear him down.
Tinker throws a solid leg kick but Kid takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Tinker.
Tinker fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kid checks it well.

and Tinker counters with a low kick, right behind Kid 's knee.

and Tinker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Tinker moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Tinker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kid. That did some damage!
Tinker throws a leg kick but Kid sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Tinker counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Tinker.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tinker. That's going to slow Kid down.
Tinker tries to work over Kid's front leg with a kick but Kid checks it.
Tinker connects with a high kick.
Karate Kid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!


It looks like Karate Kid has been cut.

Kid throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Tinker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kid working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tinker.
Tinker pushes down on Kid's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Tinker seems to be working for a kimura but Kid defends the submission attempt.

Kid tries to roll over but Tinker keeps him under control.
Kid strikes from the bottom but Tinker passes into mount!

Tinker avoids the attempt from Kid to control.
The Tinker has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The Tinker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tinker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
