Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Robertson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barney Fife! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robertson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Fife throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Robertson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fife is in Robertson's guard. Fife missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fife drops back, looking for a kneebar! Robertson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Robertson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Robertson! Robertson controls the position. Fife is trying to control Robertson's posture but Robertson avoids it. Robertson trying to control the action but Fife is working from the bottom. Robertson in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fife struggling a bit here. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Fife tries to escape but Robertson is in control. Fife trying to control but Robertson flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Fife rolls, trying to escape but Robertson keeps control of the position.
Fife looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Robertson controls the action. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Robertson's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Fife wants to get back to his feet. Robertson scores with punches from the back.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Robertson. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Robertson gets his hands free as Fife looks to control. Robertson working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Good control from Robertson. Robertson is not going to allow Fife to sit and survive in this position. Fife is taking damage to the body and head. Robertson is trying to stick to Fife's back but Fife is turning into Robertson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Robertson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Fife. Fife preventing the sweep. Robertson is working hard here to advance position. Robertson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fife would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Fife postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Robertson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fife, into his guard. Robertson wants to control from the top but Fife keeps moving. Robertson looking to pass the guard. Robertson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fife has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Robertson has managed to get both his arms back between Fife's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Good standup being displayed there by Robertson as he connects with a hook. Barney Fife is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Fife fails with the takedown and Robertson counters with a thumping low kick. A shot to the body from Fife misses and Robertson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fife thinking. Nice body punch from Robertson. Robertson cracks the inside of Fife's front leg. Robertson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Fife. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Robertson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fife under the eye.
It looks like Barney Fife has been cut. Robertson works Fife's body with a nice hook. Robertson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Robertson connects with a looping right hand.
Fife tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Robertson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Fife is breathing heavily.

Robertson lands strikes from half guard. Robertson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Robertson lands strikes from half guard. Fife wants to hold on but Robertson pushes him away. Robertson lands a heavy elbow. Robertson looking to control but Fife is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fife tries to lock up and control but Robertson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Robertson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fife can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Robertson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Fife in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Robertson wants to control the pace but Fife is squirming around nicely. Robertson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fife closes the distance looking to clinch and Robertson counters with a nice body shot. Robertson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fife. Robertson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Fife takes one to the chin there. Fife scores with a hook. Robertson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fife shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Robertson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fife thinking. A head kick by Fife misses and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Fife swings away with a body shot that misses
and Robertson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Fife throws a combination that misses and Robertson counters with a nice uppercut. Brian Robertson is winning the standup battle so far. Fife takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Robertson, right into the meat.
Fife misses with a takedown attempt and Robertson counters with a straight right hand. Barney Fife seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robertson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. An inside leg kick lands from Robertson. Robertson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Fife at a distance.
Robertson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Fife chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Robertson can pounce on him.
Fife with a lazy takedown attempt and Robertson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Fife's knee momentarily. Brian Robertson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barney Fife. Crunch! Robertson slams his shin into Fife's torso. A chopping leg kick lands by Robertson. Fife takes one to the chin there. The crowd cheers as Robertson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Fife doesn't seem phased though. Fife shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Robertson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Robertson scores with a jab to the jaw. Robertson lands a head shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fife misses with a right hand and Robertson counters with a series of strikes. Fife will be more careful next time no doubt. Robertson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fife can do to turn this around? Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Robertson moves into range and connects with a jab. Robertson throws a good cross that connects.

A punch lands to the side of Robertson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Jab from Robertson. Robertson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fife quickly recovers to half guard. Robertson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Barney Fife has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Robertson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Robertson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fife keeps working.
Brian Robertson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Robertson staying out of range there. A chopping leg kick lands by Robertson. Robertson tries to sprawl but Fife drives through with a takedown into half guard. Robertson won't allow Fife to pass to mount. Robertson has his hands clasped together around Fife's back. He's all about the action. Fife is just content to waste time from the top position. Robertson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Brian Robertson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Fife throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
