Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pika Kalei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalei comes into a darkened arena with his song building. New York kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Peterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pika Kalei! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kalei on the wrong end of a nice jab. Peterson digs a good body shot into Kalei's ribs. Kalei tries to clinch but Peterson moves out of range. Peterson lands a leg kick that knocks Kalei off balance momentarily. Kalei wants to clinch but Peterson slips to the side and Peterson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Peterson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kalei counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Peterson thows a body shot but no joy. Peterson keeps the fight on the outside. Kalei looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Peterson is fending him off so far but Kalei persists. Nope, Peterson circles away and we're back to standing. Peterson misses with a left hand and Kalei counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Peterson's guard now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Peterson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kalei is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kalei slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson kicks off Kalei and gets to his feet. Kalei doesn't manage to clinch there - Peterson circles away.
Kalei shoots for a takedown but Peterson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Peterson thows a left - swing and a miss! Kalei drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Peterson stops Kalei from passing to mount. Kalei creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Peterson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kalei misses with the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kalei landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Peterson can't do much from the bottom here. Kalei in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Peterson stops Kalei from passing to mount. Peterson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Kalei. Kalei tries to score with some ground and pound. Peterson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Kalei creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Peterson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalei working the ground and pound but Peterson is defending the strikes. Kalei tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Kalei is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kalei creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Peterson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kalei has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kalei grinds an elbow into Peterson's temple. Kalei in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Peterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kalei on the ground. Kalei has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Peterson! Kalei thowing shots but they're missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peterson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kalei. Kalei misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Peterson has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Kalei's lack of action.
Peterson wants to get back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kalei is looking to advance position but Peterson won't allow it. Kalei thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pika Kalei dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Peterson pushes Kalei back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Peterson stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Kalei is breathing heavily. Peterson blocks a body shot from Kalei. Peterson lands a body punch in the clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from Peterson. Kalei is trying to drag Peterson to the mat but Peterson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Peterson looking to slow down the pace here. Kalei tries to work over Peterson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A quick uppercut on the inside from Peterson. Peterson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Peterson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Peterson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kalei doesn't seem bothered though. Kalei takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Peterson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Peterson lands with a right hand. Mike Peterson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kalei uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Peterson. Peterson misses with the combination.

Kalei walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Kalei takes a swing at Peterson's ribcage but misses. Mike Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Peterson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A chopping leg kick lands by Peterson. Peterson lands a nice looking body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kalei throws a leg kick but Peterson moved away. Peterson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kalei has time to react. A lazy left from Peterson finds it's target. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Peterson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kalei takes a shot right to the bread basket. Peterson lands a lovely overhand right. Peterson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kalei sees it coming and avoids it easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kalei gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Peterson. Peterson checks a leg kick nicely. Pika Kalei is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Peterson digs a good body shot into Kalei's ribs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kalei slows the pace down in half guard. Peterson pushes Kalei off looking to stand but Kalei dives back in and keeps control.

Peterson stops Kalei from passing to mount. Kalei is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Peterson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pika Kalei has got the better of the ground game so far. Kalei tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kalei has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kalei misses with the ground and pound. And that's the end of the fight! Pika Kalei comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Kalei has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
