PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kayden Egan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter comes into a darkened arena with his song building. RENEGADE MASTER kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Steve Fighter is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kayden Egan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Fighter!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Egan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fighter doesn't seem bothered though.
Fighter slips a jab and a cross from Egan.
Fighter misses with a wild body shot.
Fighter chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Fighter.
Egan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fighter.
Egan throws a right hand that misses
and Fighter counters with a low kick, right behind Egan 's knee.
Fighter moves away from the strike by Egan.
Egan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Egan.
Egan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Fighter can pounce on him.
Fighter lands a leg kick that knocks Egan off balance momentarily.
Egan is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fighter lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Fighter darts in and clinches Egan up against the cage.
Fighter lands a right hand.
Fighter keeps control of Egan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Fighter looking for a takedown.

Egan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Egan misses with a body shot
and Fighter counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter is looking to score with low kicks.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Fighter.
Fighter closes the distance and clinches up with Egan, looking for a takedown. Fighter pushes Egan against the cage but Egan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fighter lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Fighter walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Egan checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Fighter throws a nice head kick!
Kayden Egan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fighter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Egan's waist but Egan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fighter off to one side.
Kayden Egan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Fighter.
Egan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fighter.

Fighter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fighter showed some decent athleticism there.
Well, if Fighter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Egan is trying to maintain the position but Fighter is very close to passing his half guard.
Fighter works his way into side control.
Fighter controlling the position.
Egan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Fighter wants to control but Egan is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Fighter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Egan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fighter trying to control the position but Egan is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fighter postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fighter thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Fighter tries for a kimura but Egan is defending well.
Fighter working away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fighter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fighter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Egan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fighter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Fighter dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Egan throws a right and a left that Fighter avoids nicely.

and Fighter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Egan lands a jab-cross combination.
A nice inside leg kick there by Fighter. That's going to slow Egan down.
Fighter buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Egan throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fighter counters with a thumping low kick.
Egan missing with a left hand there. Fighter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A nice inside leg kick there by Fighter. That's going to slow Egan down.
Egan tries to bum rush Fighter with a series of wild strikes but Fighter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Egan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Fighter can pounce on him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fighter misses the shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Egan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Fighter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fighter works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Fighter is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Egan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fighter.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Egan is defending against the submission attempts here by Fighter.
Fighter wants to take a breather but Egan is having none of it.
Egan won't allow Fighter to pass to mount.
Fighter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Egan defending well though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fighter with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Fighter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Fighter trying to control but Egan is having none of it.
Fighter forces the positional change into back control.
Fighter has good solid back control here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Egan covering up well and avoiding damage.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Fighter controlling the positon.

Fighter looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Egan taps!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Steve Fighter!
