Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Trester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Tait! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trester tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tait swivels and escapes. Trester throws a right and a left that Tait avoids nicely. Trester misses with a low kick as Tait jumps back. Tait shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Trester is trying to defend but Tait finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Trester looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Tait seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Trester works his way to full guard. Good work. Tait wants to control from the top but Trester keeps moving. Tait showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tait wants to pass the guard but Trester is keeping the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Trester working a defensive guard here.
Tait would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. George Tait was stalling too much, according to the referee. Tait with a lazy takedown attempt and Trester counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tait won't be happy with that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tait looks gassed! Trester prevents Tait from escaping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trester content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Trester trying to control the position but Tait is working away. Tait looking for a sweep but Trester has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trester lands a heavy elbow. Trester sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Trester wants to take Tait's back but he can't do it this time. Trester avoids the attempt from Tait to control. Trester controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Trester trying to control but Tait is having none of it. Tait is desperately trying to improve his position but Trester has a good base and remains in mount. Tait tries to lock up and control but Trester gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Tait is trying to escape the mount.
Trester looking to control but Tait is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Trester dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Trester lands a takedown into guard.
Tait is controlling Trester's posture. Tait throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Trester is stalling in the full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trester pushes down on Tait's leg and manages to get into half guard. Trester tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tait knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Trester not doing much here.
Trester throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Tait slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Trester preventing the sweep. Trester tries to free his leg and advance position but Tait is retaining full guard. Tait throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Tait is trying to control the position but Trester postures up. Tait is adopting a defensive guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tait decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Tait lands with a punch from half guard. Tait trying to pass the guard but Trester defending well. Trester is trying to get back to full guard. Tait is looking to take a break and control but Trester is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Trester wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trester looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Tait working over Trester with some ground and pound. Trester looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Tait slows the pace down in half guard. Ben Trester overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Trester tries to roll over but Tait keeps him under control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tait controlling the action here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but George Tait will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Trester fails with the takedown and Tait counters with a takedown into side control. Trester is trying to buck Tait off. Tait stands up. Trester gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tait to score an easy takedown into full guard. Trester wants to control the position but Tait says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Trester is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tait pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trester is trying to control but can't.
Tait trying to control the pace. Tait passes into side control, despite Trester's attempt to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Trester wants to control but Tait postures up. Trester is not content to let Tait control the position. Trester wants to control but Tait postures up. Trester is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Tait in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Tait misses with a takedown attempt - Trester sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Tait bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Trester's head. Trester throws a combination that misses and Tait counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tait. Tait pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. George Tait seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tait shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tait showed some decent athleticism there. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tait is trying to control the action in half guard but Trester is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Trester actively working from the bottom here. Trester pushes Tait off and gets back to his feet. Tait misses with a head kick.
Trester fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tait manages to avoid it. Tait scores a takedown into full mount! Tait avoids the attempt from Trester to control. Trester is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that's the end of the fight! George Tait comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Tait has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
