Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wesley Doran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wesley Doran!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doran moves into range and clinches up with Johnson.
Doran is struggling to control the position.

Doran has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Johnson is trying to keep an underhook but Doran manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Doran trying to pass the guard but Johnson defending well.
Doran throwing shots but Johnson is blocking nicely.
Doran is controlling the pace.
Johnson wants to control but Doran is keeping busy.
Doran wants to pass the guard but Johnson is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson is trying to maintain the position but Doran is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Doran is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Johnson trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Poor strikes thrown by Doran there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Doran looking to ground and pound but Johnson is blocking nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Doran controlling from mount.
Johnson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Doran thows a huge punch but Johnson dodges it nicely.
Johnson tries to get to full guard but Doran has control of the leg.
Doran looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Wesley Doran.

Doran shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Doran is thwarting Johnson's attempts to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Doran missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Doran sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Doran is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Doran eventually gives up the hold.
Doran wants to take a breather but Johnson is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wesley Doran dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Doran shoots and misses
letting Johnson counter with a right hand.
Doran will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Doran shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Doran's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Doran tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Johnson counters with a stiff right hand.
Doran falls off balance throwing a combination
and Johnson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Doran is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Doran manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Doran's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doran is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Doran is breathing heavily.
Johnson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Doran is proving hard to escape from.
Doran pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.

Doran looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson postures up.
Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Doran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Doran has his hands on Johnson's head, controlling the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Doran tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Doran takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Doran tries for a takedown but Johnson circles away easily
and Johnson counters with a head kick. That will keep Doran thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
James Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wesley Doran.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Doran misses with a takedown

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Doran is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Johnson is keen to just control but Doran is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Doran is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Doran manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Johnson displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Doran closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.

Doran shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Johnson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doran stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Doran misses with a takedown attempt
and Johnson counters with a low kick, right behind Doran 's knee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Johnson dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Doran shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Doran keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Doran throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.
Doran avoids the head kick by Johnson.
Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Doran. Doran gets slowly back to his feet.
Johnson misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Doran on that attempt.
James Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wesley Doran.
Doran has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Johnson.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson closes the distance and pushes Doran back into the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson goes for a takedown attempt but Doran pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Johnson misses with a head kick.
Doran wants to clinch but Johnson slips to the side
and Johnson counters with a head kick. That will keep Doran thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Doran shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Johnson wants to improve his position but Doran is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Doran is looking for a kimura here.
Johnson is looking to control Doran's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Johnson avoid being mounted?
Johnson wants to control but Doran passes into side.

Doran looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson stops Doran from passing to mount.
Wesley Doran has got the better of the ground game so far.

Doran is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Johnson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Johnson is working hard here to advance position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Doran tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Johnson is trying to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wesley Doran comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Doran has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
