Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Teddy The! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Tran! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tran closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tran lands in his opponent's guard. The is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tran is one step ahead there. The looking to control.
The on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if The tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Teddy The has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. The shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tran as he jumps to the side. The leaves Tran with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Tran looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for The! The is looking to improve his position but Tran isn't that keen on the idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tran lands a nice shot to the head. The is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Tran fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
It looks like Teddy The has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The tries to lock up and control but Tran gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tran prevents The from getting the reversal. Tran scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Teddy The's cut is getting worse. The tries to hold on but Tran pushes him away. Tran breaks from The's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The is rocked!
Teddy The's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Teddy The's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Peter Tran! Peter Tran is the new light heavyweight champion!
