Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gilbert Hernandez! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hernandez throwing strikes from guard but Jackson blocks nicely. Hernandez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jackson dives on top into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jackson wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving. Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Hernandez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hernandez manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Hernandez's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hernandez is looking to stand back up but Jackson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hernandez. Hernandez trying to control here.
Hernandez tries to roll over but Jackson keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jackson wants to pass the guard but Hernandez is defending well. Hernandez wants to stand back up but Jackson manages to pass into side control.
Hernandez looking for a sweep but Jackson has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hernandez is trying desperately to improve position. Jackson trying to control but Hernandez is having none of it. Hernandez reaches up and pulls Jackson towards him, trying to control the position. Jackson manages to get a guillotine from the mount though! This could be big trouble for Hernandez! Hernandez tries to roll over - now Jackson is on the bottom but the guillotine is really deep and Hernandez has to tap out! Great work there by Jackson!
