Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Riddell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lars Thunstrom! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riddell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Thunstrom throws out the jab. Thunstrom throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thunstrom ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Riddell throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Thunstrom counters with a left to the body. Thunstrom jabs Riddell to the body, keeping him at a distance. Riddell staying out of range there. Thunstrom ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Riddell moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riddell darts in trying to clinch and Riddell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Riddell tries to bum rush Thunstrom with a series of wild strikes but Thunstrom uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Thunstrom connects with a looping right hand.

Thunstrom listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Nice combo by Thunstrom! Oh, that's hurt him - Riddell falls to the canvas and Thunstrom follows him into side control.
Riddell is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thunstrom is looking to take a break and control but Riddell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Thunstrom goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Riddell rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Thunstrom's guard! Nice work there by Riddell!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riddell works a leg free and moves into half guard. Thunstrom avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Riddell. Riddell prevents Thunstrom from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Thunstrom slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Riddell wants to control from the top but Thunstrom keeps moving. Riddell works a leg free and moves into half guard. Riddell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thunstrom is looking for a sweep. Riddell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Riddell seems to be looking for submissions.

Riddell lands with a punch from half guard. Thunstrom moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Riddell lands a couple of decent looking shots. Riddell advances to half guard. Thunstrom tries to get to full guard but Riddell has control of the leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lars Thunstrom dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Thunstrom takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Thunstrom lands with a nice combination. Riddell backs away looking to recover. This has been an exciting period of action! Riddell tries to clinch up but Thunstrom circles away and keeps his distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riddell wants to clinch but Thunstrom slips to the side enabling Thunstrom to counter with a crisp jab. Riddell tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thunstrom paws at him with a jab and circles away. Riddell has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Riddell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Thunstrom.
Thunstrom misses with an uppercut. Riddell saw that one coming. Thunstrom takes a swing at Riddell's ribcage but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Riddell takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Thunstrom looks to land a left hand but Riddell moved out of range nicely. Riddell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A combination from Thunstrom does no damage. Thunstrom misses with an uppercut. Riddell saw that one coming.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thunstrom misses with an uppercut. Riddell moves to clinch but Thunstrom breaks away enabling Thunstrom to counter with a crisp jab. Thunstrom throws a sloppy body shot
and Riddell counters with a nice body shot. Thunstrom throws an off balance right hand
and Riddell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riddell wants to clinch. Thunstrom keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Riddell. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Riddell dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Lars Thunstrom's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Riddell is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Thunstrom throws a big shot that misses. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Thunstrom throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Riddell tries to clinch but Thunstrom is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Riddell throws a sloppy head kick and Thunstrom moves out of range easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thunstrom takes one to the side of the head.
A telegraphed right hand from Thunstrom misses the target. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Thunstrom, as that shot connected.
Thunstrom throws a hook to the side of Riddell's head but Riddell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Thunstrom lands a right hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riddell throws a head kick that misses and Thunstrom cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Riddell throws a head kick but Thunstrom moves out of range.
Thunstrom throws out a loose jab but Riddell uses good head movement to avoid it. Riddell slips a jab and a cross from Thunstrom.
A punch lands to the side of Riddell 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thunstrom circles away from the clinch attempt.
Thunstrom works Riddell's body with a nice hook. A big right from Thunstrom misses. Riddell ducks right into an uppercut from Thunstrom. Riddell wants to clinch up but Thunstrom keeps it at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thunstrom connects with a looping right hand.
Lars Thunstrom seems to be getting the better of the standup. Riddell avoids the body shot from Thunstrom.
Riddell tries to clinch but Thunstrom moves away and Thunstrom counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Riddell looks to clinch enabling Thunstrom to counter with a crisp jab. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The crowd cheers as Thunstrom lands an impressive looking overhand right. Riddell doesn't seem phased though.
And that's the end of the fight! Lars Thunstrom comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Thunstrom has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
