The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pytong looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Watson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pytong controls the pace. Watson pushes Pytong off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Watson looks to clinch and Pytong counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pytong is looking for a kimura but Watson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pytong to get the leverage. Pytong performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pytong's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Pytong seems to be working for a kimura but Watson defends the submission attempt. Watson is trying to get back to full guard. Pytong is taking a breather. Watson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Watson. Pytong chips away with some ground and pound. Pytong's corner is telling him to maintain position. Pytong drops back looking for a leg! Watson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Watson manages to kick Pytong off! Pytong jumps back into Watson's guard. Pytong seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Watson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Watson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pytong pushing down on Watson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Pytong is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Watson has managed to free his arm - good work. Pytong with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice strikes from Pytong there. Pytong is controlling the pace.
Pytong frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Pytong working for a submission but Watson is keeping him at bay. Pytong moves to the back. Pytong controls the action. Pytong seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Watson for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Watson trying to get back to his feet but Pytong is in full control for now. Watson is trying to defend against the choke here but Pytong has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Pytong Tightens the hold and Watson taps out furiously! Pytong displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
