The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amade tries to move into range but Holt moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Amade misses with the body kick
so Holt counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Holt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Holt trying to control the position from guard on top but Amade is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Holt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Holt scores with a hook to the body. Amade takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Andre Amade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Amade uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Holt.

and Holt counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Holt slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Holt connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Holt takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

Holt lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Amade backwards.

and Holt counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Holt remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Amade defending against the ground and pound.
Holt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Amade will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
