Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey Payne!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne looks to score with a jab to the body but Riley is just out of range.

Payne closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Riley misses with a knee to the head.
Riley putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Payne in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Riley avoids a wild elbow strike from Payne.
Riley scores a nice knee to the body.

Payne gets control of Riley's arms and successfully pulls guard. Payne will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Payne is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Riley's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Riley's back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Riley drops back looking for a leg! Payne is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Payne manages to kick Riley off! Riley jumps back into Payne's guard.
Riley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Riley gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Payne throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Payne is bucking up trying to escape but Riley cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riley has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Payne's face.

Riley is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Payne has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Riley wants to control the pace but Payne is squirming around nicely.

Riley working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Riley is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Payne has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Payne!

Payne wants to clinch

and Riley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Payne's guard now.
Riley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Payne not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Riley stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Payne shoots in looking for a takedown but Riley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Payne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Payne throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Riley misses with a takedown attempt - Payne sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Riley stuffs the takedown attempt from Payne. Payne gets slowly back to his feet.

and Payne counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Riley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Payne tries to stand but Riley controls the position and pulls Payne into his guard.

Riley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Riley is pressing down on Payne's thigh, looking to free his foot. Payne is holding on for now.
Riley is looking to take a break and control but Payne is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Riley seems to be looking for submissions.

Riley is working for a kimura here but Payne manages to reverse the position and he's now in Riley's guard.

Payne wants to control from the top but Riley keeps moving.

Luke Riley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Riley blocks a head kick by Payne.

Riley feints and as Payne raises his hands in defense, Riley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Payne is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Riley rolls with it to try and escape but Payne cranks on the arm and Riley is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
