Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ong Bak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Bedford! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bak motions for Bedford to come forward. Bak throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Bak wants to clinch but Bedford slips to the side and Bedford counters with a stiff right hand. Bedford lands a nice hook to Bak's body. Bak takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Bedford swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bak. Bak tries to clinch up and Bedford counters with a one-two to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bedford scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Bak is breathing heavily. Bak tries to clinch and Bedford counters with a straight right hand. Bedford rushes Bak and presses him up against the ropes. A shot in the inside from Bedford. Bedford is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Bedford lands a hook that snaps the head of Bak backwards. A short right from Bedford. With the fighters up against the ropes, Bak throws an elbow but misses. Bedford lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Bedford lands with a left to the head. With the fighters up against the ropes, Bak throws an elbow but misses. Bedford tries to break the clinch but Bak is controlling the position. Bedford has had enough of the clinch but Bak keeps him there for the moment. Bedford lands an uppercut. Bedford lands an uppercut. Bedford avoids a wild elbow strike from Bak. Bak throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Bedford breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bak takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
It looks like Ong Bak has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bedford drops Bak with a beautiful combination! Bak stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Bedford is looking for the KO!
Bak is rocked! Bedford cracks Bak with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bak looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Bedford finish him?
Oh Bak is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bak gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Bedford gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Bak is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bobby Bedford!
