Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andy Nilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lass Holden! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nilson shoots in for a takedown but Holden shows good takedown defense. Holden shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Nilson is looking for a sweep. Holden is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nilson is working hard here to advance position. Nilson trying to control from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Holden in particular looking to stall. Nilson wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holden moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Nilson. Nilson gets back to half guard. Nilson trying to control from the bottom.
Nilson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Holden pulls his head out easily. Nilson is trying to maintain the position but Holden is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nilson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Holden is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nilson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nilson is looking for a triangle here but Holden uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Nilson tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Holden easily slips into full mount! Nilson is looking to improve his position but Holden isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holden trying to control but Nilson is having none of it. Nilson working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Nilson is working to get back to half guard.
Holden can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nilson is looking to escape. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nilson is desperately trying to improve his position but Holden has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lass Holden dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Nilson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Holden throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nilson was covering up waiting for the punch and Holden finishes the takedown easily into guard. Holden preventing the sweep. Holden seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Nilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Holden is one step ahead there. Nilson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Holden defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nilson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nilson goes for an armbar but Holden turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Holden. Holden trying to control the position from guard on top but Nilson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nilson is looking for a triangle but Holden pushes his legs off easily.
Nilson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Holden is now in half guard. Nilson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Nilson wants to sweep here but Holden controlling him for the moment. Nilson is trying to keep Holden in close.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holden trying to control but Nilson is working from the bottom. Holden trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Nilson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Holden thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Nilson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Holden puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nilson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nilson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lass Holden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Nilson wants to pass the guard but Holden is keeping the position. Nilson trying to control the position from guard on top but Holden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nilson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Holden manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nilson has Holden in his guard. Nilson looking for a sweep. Not yet Nilson, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nilson is looking for a triangle but Holden pushes his legs off easily.
Nilson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Holden defends it easily. Holden got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nilson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Holden has managed to get both his arms back between Nilson's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nilson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Holden is one step ahead there. Nilson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Holden is now in half guard. Holden prevents Nilson from improving his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holden sitting and controlling from the half guard. Nilson wants to get back to full guard. Holden is keen to just control but Nilson is a slippery customer. Nilson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nilson has an active guard here but Holden has managed to pass into half guard.
Holden is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nilson is pressing down on Holden's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Nilson controlling Holden's posture. Nilson has his foot on Holden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Holden works his way back into a safe position though.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Andy Nilson. Well Holden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
