The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rypien throws a poor cross that misses
and Shotokahn counters with a good low kick that Rypien was not able to check.
Shotokahn swings for the body but Rypien moves out of range.
Shotokahn misses with a head kick.
Shotokahn tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Rypien misses with a right hand
and Shotokahn counters with a slapping leg kick.
Shotokahn avoids the body shot from Rypien.
Both fighters circling a little - Shotokahn finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Rypien throws a wild body kick that Shotokahn sees coming a mile off.
Shotokahn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rypien stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Shotokahn connects with a looping right hand.
Rypien tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rypien throws a lazy uppercut
and Shotokahn counters with a leg kick.

Shotokahn moves out of range of the body kick.
Rypien keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

A head kick by Rypien misses
and Shotokahn makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Shotokahn misses with a lunging right hand
and Rypien counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Shotokahn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rypien lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Shotokahn just misses with a punch to the body.
Rypien throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shotokahn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Shotokahn tries a low kick but Rypien avoids it.
A big left from Shotokahn misses.

Shotokahn misses with an uppercut
and Rypien counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Shotokahn slips under a jab from Rypien.
That kick from Shotokahn tenderised Rypien's leg. Rypien is trying to keep his angry face on.
Rypien misses with a shot to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rypien connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Shotokahn momentarily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shotokahn catches Rypien with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Shotokahn makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Shotokahn scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Rypien counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Shotokahn rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rypien makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rypien throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Shotokahn counters with a nice body shot.
Shotokahn gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rypien.
Shotokahn connects with a crisp jab.
Rypien defending well as Shotokahn loads up on a big left hand.
Rypien falls off balance throwing a combination
and Shotokahn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Shotokahn is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Rypien moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick Rypien!
