PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hanzo Hasashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karumoka Warakasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Warakasa's choice of entrance music: Thy Serpent - Deathbearer. Karumoka Warakasa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hanzo Hasashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karumoka Warakasa!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hasashi lands a big head kick that sends Warakasa tumbling to the mat! Hasashi takes a step backwards and waves Warakasa back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Karumoka Warakasa has been cut.

Warakasa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hasashi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hasashi takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Warakasa connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hasashi some visible discomfort.

Hasashi is trying to control Warakasa's posture but Warakasa avoids it.
Warakasa sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hasashi is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Warakasa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hasashi sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Hasashi tries to buck Warakasa off but Warakasa is having none of it.

Warakasa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hasashi keeps working.

Warakasa wants to work for an arm triangle but Hasashi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warakasa is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A lazy left from Warakasa finds it's target.
Warakasa lands with a shot to the body.
Warakasa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hasashi.
Warakasa throws a hook but Hasashi avoids it easily.
Hasashi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Warakasa counters with a nice uppercut.


Hasashi is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Warakasa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Oh Hasashi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Karumoka Warakasa seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Warakasa connects with a leg kick. Hasashi looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hanzo Hasashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hasashi walks forward, straight into a front kick from Warakasa.
Hasashi seems to have got his legs back now.
Warakasa tries to close the distance and clinch but Hasashi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hanzo Hasashi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Warakasa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hasashi did well to prevent Warakasa getting side control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Karumoka Warakasa wasn't active enough on the ground.

Warakasa shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hasashi is trying to defend but Warakasa finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Warakasa wants to take a breather but Hasashi is having none of it.

Karumoka Warakasa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Hasashi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Warakasa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hasashi was well out of range. Poor timing from Warakasa.
Warakasa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Warakasa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hasashi shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Warakasa eats them both and turns towards Hasashi to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Warakasa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hasashi's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hasashi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Warakasa off and has taken his back!
Warakasa rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Warakasa wants to sweep here but Hasashi controlling him for the moment.
Hasashi wants to stand but Warakasa is controlling his posture from full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Warakasa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Karumoka Warakasa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Warakasa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
