Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Landry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matthew Pappano! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pappano shoots in but no luck this time. Landry throws a sloppy head kick and Pappano moves out of range easily. Pappano closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Landry did well to prevent Pappano getting side control. Pappano throws a strike but Landry avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Pappano throwing strikes but missing. Landry looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Landry manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Landry content just to control the position here. Landry landing strikes from the mount and Pappano is in trouble!
That's one minute gone in the round. Landry can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pappano is looking to escape. BOOM! Landry connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Landry landing strikes from the mount and Pappano is in trouble! Landry misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Landry can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pappano is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pappano can do anything to dispel that myth. Landry lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Landry is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pappano to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pappano shrugs it off. Landry putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Landry cracks Pappano with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
