The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powers looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Powers with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carlton trying to hold on to Powers's head to control him but Powers postures up.
Still in half guard, Powers seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Shifty Powers hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Carlton feints and then cracks Powers's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Powers down.
