Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dave Dashoo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Will Sams! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sams shoots in but no luck this time. Dashoo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sams as he jumps to the side. Sams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dashoo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Dashoo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sams tries to avoid it but Dashoo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sams to the ground. Sams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sams shoots and misses and Dashoo counters with a lovely straight right hand! Dave Dashoo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Sams. Dashoo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sams sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sams tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dashoo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Dashoo controlling the action here. Sams tries to roll over but Dashoo keeps him under control. Dashoo trying to advance position but Sams counters by regaining guard.

Dashoo stands and throws Sams's legs to the side, diving into side control. Sams is trying to control Dashoo's posture but Dashoo avoids it. Dashoo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Sams is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dashoo asserts his dominance and retains side control. Sams struggling a bit here. That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Sams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Dashoo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sams knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Dashoo tries for a kimura but Sams is defending well. Dashoo working away. That's three minutes gone in the round. Sams is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dashoo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dashoo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Dashoo fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Dashoo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Dashoo decides to stand back up. Sams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dashoo paws at him with a jab and circles away. A big right from Dashoo misses. Dashoo looks to land a left hand but Sams moved out of range nicely. Dashoo misses with a lunging right hand
and Dashoo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sams shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dashoo counters with a left and a right that stings Sams. Sams fails with a takedown attempt. Dashoo lands with a shot to the body. Sams looks gassed! Dashoo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sams counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Sams taking a breather. Dashoo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dashoo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Dashoo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sams circles away. Dashoo lands the left hand.
It looks like Will Sams has been cut. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sams has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dashoo manages to break the clinch.
Sams doesn't succeed with the takedown and Dashoo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sams's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Dashoo dominated that round. The cut man is working on Will Sams's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Dashoo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Sams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dashoo but Dashoo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Dashoo takes a swing at Sams's ribcage but misses. Dashoo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sams's head. Sams has Dashoo up against the cage in a clinch.

Dashoo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sams can't fight it off and eventually Dashoo manages to take the fight to the floor. Sams looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Dashoo sitting in guard, not really doing much. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dashoo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dashoo won't allow Sams to sweep him here. Dashoo trying to control the position from guard on top but Sams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Sams is breathing heavily. Sams is controlling the pace.
Dashoo wants to control but Sams is keeping busy and won't allow it. Dashoo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sams pulls his head out easily. Sams is nestled in close to Dashoo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Sams is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sams looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Dashoo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sams's back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sams preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Dashoo. Dave Dashoo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dashoo working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Sams is trying to get back to his feet but Dashoo has full control of the position and if anything, Sams has just worked his way into a worse spot. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sams is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dashoo has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Dashoo missing with punches from the back. Sams tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Dashoo wants to finish this one by submission but Sams is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dashoo. Sams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dashoo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dashoo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sams has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sams wants to control but Dashoo is having none of it. Dashoo landing strikes from the mount and Sams is in trouble! Sams keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Dashoo looking to isolate an arm here. Sams doesn't see it coming and as Dashoo extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Dashoo!
