Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy D!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yamapi Chan!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
D scores with a body shot.
Chan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

This has been an exciting period of action!

and D counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Chan thinking.
Roy D has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yamapi Chan.

Chan forces D back against the cage and clinches.

D pulls guard effortlessly.
Chan preventing the sweep.

D is trying to control the position but Chan postures up.

D has his foot on Chan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chan works his way back into a safe position though.

Chan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Chan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Chan is looking to work some ground and pound but D has wrist control.
D manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chan manages to get himself to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
D with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and D counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Roy D is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

D misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts D, as that shot connected.

Chan moves to clinch but D breaks away
and D counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Yamapi Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chan is trying desperately to land a takedown but D is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Chan.

Chan slips under a jab from D.
Chan takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
D feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and D counters with a nice uppercut.
D is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chan can do to turn this around?

D moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Roy D clearly takes that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


D moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
D misses with a right hand
and D takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chan is looking to score with low kicks.
D slips a jab from Chan.
Chan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and D counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Chan tries to clinch up.

Chan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Chan is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

Chan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and D dives on top into guard.
D is working Chan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

D drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and D jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

D lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Chan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
D postures up and lands a big shot to Chan's brow.
D is looking to work some ground and pound but Chan has wrist control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

D loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chan lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for D!
D is working to get back to half guard.

Chan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Chan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Chan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Chan works his way to his opponent's back.

Chan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Chan is hanging on to D's back as he tries to escape.
Well, with Chan on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before D is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Chan has got one arm under D's chin. This could be trouble... D trying to control the other hand but Chan gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, D has tapped out! The fight is over!
