Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Maya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksi Teras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maya comes to the cage accompanied by Razor. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teras tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Maya counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Maya.

Teras looking for a guillotine here but Maya defends easily.
Maya postures up in Teras's guard and throws a big left but Teras blocks it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maya accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Maya has gone for a leg lock! Teras slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maya's guard.
Teras thows a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maya looking to hit a scissor sweep but Teras is one step ahead there.
Teras trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Maya looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Teras throws and elbow that misses. Maya uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Teras's guard. Nice move by Maya!
Maya connects with a couple of short punches.
Maya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Teras swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Maya tries to free his leg and advance position but Teras is retaining full guard.
Maya content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Teras working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Maya.

Teras has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maya can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maya looking to sit in guard and control but Teras gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Maya manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Teras manages to get himself to full guard.
Maya won't allow Teras to get back to his feet.

Maya is looking to take a break and control but Teras is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Maya is pressing down on Teras's thigh, looking to free his foot. Teras is holding on for now.
Maya throws a strike but Teras avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Maya drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Teras manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maya has Teras in his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Maya holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maya shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Teras counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Maya gets full guard.

Maya is looking to sinch up a triangle. Teras throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Maya's body to avoid the submission. Maya has instead reached around Teras's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Maya arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
