Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leto II Atreides! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gerald Kiriaki! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Atreides scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kiriaki in his tracks. Kiriaki throws a good cross that connects.
It looks like Leto II Atreides has been cut. Kiriaki has closed the distance and engaged Atreides in a clinch.
Atreides manages to break the clinch.
Kiriaki checks a leg kick. Atreides misses with a series of wild punches.
Danga de danga de dang - Kiriaki scores with a four punch combination! Kiriaki cracks a nice hook into Atreides's ribs. Kiriaki walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Atreides moves out of range as Kiriaki strikes. Kiriaki throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Kiriaki misses with a lunging right hand
and Atreides counters with a single leg into guard. Kiriaki didn't expect that. Kiriaki not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kiriaki scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Atreides tries to land a leg kick but Kiriaki saw it coming and moves away.
Kiriaki pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Atreides back to the cage. Kiriaki follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Atreides throws the left hand but Kiriaki avoids the punch easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kiriaki works the jab nicely. Kiriaki feints a jab promting Atreides to slip. Kiriaki then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Atreides slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Atreides blocks a jab. Kiriaki throws a head kick that misses and Atreides counters with a big head kick but Kiriaki shrugs it off. Kiriaki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Atreides moves away. Kiriaki throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Atreides. Kiriaki lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kiriaki closes the distance looking to clinch and Atreides counters with a head kick. Atreides shoots in for a takedown but Kiriaki shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Gerald Kiriaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Atreides looks to throw a body kick and Kiriaki counters with a nice leg kick. Kiriaki lunges at Atreides with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Atreides's hand.
Leto II Atreides's cut is getting worse. Atreides is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Atreides connects with a body shot that sends Kiriaki's belly button to the back. Kiriaki goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Kiriaki closes the distance looking to clinch and Atreides counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kiriaki won't be happy with that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kiriaki pushes Atreides away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Atreides gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Atreides misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Kiriaki is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Atreides asserts his dominance and retains side control. Atreides lands an elbow. Kiriaki managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Atreides.
Atreides working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Kiriaki is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Atreides in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Atreides works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from Atreides are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Kiriaki tries to improve position but can't. Kiriaki is working to avoid the ground and pound but Atreides connects with a decent elbow. Atreides landing strikes. Kiriaki is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Atreides off and has taken his back! Kiriaki keeps control of the position as Atreides tries to break free.
Atreides rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Atreides controlling the position for now. Atreides wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Atreides is working hard here to advance position. Atreides looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kiriaki stands up and beckons Atreides to join him on the feet. Kiriaki cracks Atreides with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Kiriaki throws a body punch but Atreides moves out of range. A head kick misses from Kiriaki. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Atreides is looking to chop away at Kiriaki's legs. Kiriaki gets off balance looking for a body kick and Atreides counters with a left and a right that stings Kiriaki. Atreides throws a head kick but Kiriaki moves out of range.
Kiriaki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Atreides. Atreides obviously looking to wear him down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gerald Kiriaki dominated that round. The cut man is working on Leto II Atreides's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Atreides throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Atreides counters with a solid body kick. Kiriaki tries to clinch there but Atreides circles away.

and Atreides finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Atreides tries to score with a low kick but Kiriaki moves his leg out of the way. Atreides stuns Kiriaki with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Kiriaki tries a head kick but it misses.
Kiriaki throws an off balance right hand
and Atreides counters with a nice double leg into guard. Atreides throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kiriaki works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kiriaki wants to stand but Atreides is controlling the position. Kiriaki has momentary wrist control but Atreides slips an elbow through the middle. Atreides works over Kiriaki with some ground and pound from guard. Atreides throws and elbow that misses. Kiriaki uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Atreides's guard. Nice move by Kiriaki! Atreides is pulling down on Kiriaki's head. It's preventing any offense from Kiriaki, at least for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atreides keeping full guard, as Kiriaki tries to pass. Kiriaki preventing the sweep. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Kiriaki wants to control from the top but Atreides keeps moving.
We're going to have a standup here because Leto II Atreides wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Atreides gets off balance looking for a body kick and Kiriaki counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kiriaki throws a combination that misses so Atreides counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kiriaki wants to stand and escape but Atreides is having none of it. Kiriaki preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Atreides throws and elbow that misses. Kiriaki uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Atreides's guard. Nice move by Kiriaki! Atreides lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kiriaki! Kiriaki is trying to escape the mount.
Kiriaki is breathing heavily. The referee warns Kiriaki that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Kiriaki is trying desperately to improve position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Atreides is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kiriaki can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Atreides fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kiriaki is squirming around, avoiding Atreides's attempts to control the action. Atreides landing punches. Atreides raining down shots from the mount! Atreides postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Kiriaki in real trouble here! The ref calls for Kiriaki to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leto II Atreides!
