PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Max Steiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kinjo Sasake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Steiner! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steiner tries to clinch but Sasake moves away and Sasake counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Sasake circles away from the clinch attempt and Sasake counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Sasake looks to score with a jab to the body but Steiner is just out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Sasake. Steiner does a little dance to reset his feet. Steiner misses with a double jab
and Sasake counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Steiner closes the distance but Sasake moves to the side and Sasake counters with a right hand to the body. Steiner avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Sasake just misses with a punch to the body.
Steiner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sasake counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Steiner thinking. Steiner moves to clinch but Sasake breaks away and Sasake decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Steiner's guard. Sasake wants to pass the guard but Steiner is keeping the position. Steiner looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sasake engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Steiner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Steiner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Steiner keeping moving, preventing Sasake from controlling successfully. Steiner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sasake on the ground. Sasake is working Steiner over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Sasake is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sasake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Steiner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sasake, into his guard. Sasake looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Sasake has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steiner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Steiner is posturing up here but Sasake has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Steiner tries to roll out but it's too tight and Steiner has to tap! Slick submission there by Sasake!
