Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe CocoMo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe CocoMo!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

CocoMo has taken the fight to the clinch.

CocoMo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Davis is trying to keep an underhook but CocoMo manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Davis pushes CocoMo off looking to stand but CocoMo dives back in and keeps control.
Davis trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
CocoMo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Davis kicks CocoMo off and gets back to his feet.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt

and CocoMo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Davis!

CocoMo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

CocoMo has control of Davis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Davis regains control of the situation pretty easily.

CocoMo thowing shots but they're missing.
Davis is desperately trying to improve his position but CocoMo has a good base and remains in mount.
Davis is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
CocoMo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Davis regains half guard.
CocoMo is looking to take a break and control but Davis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davis is trying to maintain the position but CocoMo is very close to passing his half guard.
CocoMo stops Davis from getting back to his feet.

CocoMo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
CocoMo trying to control the action but Davis is working from the bottom.
Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Joe CocoMo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt
and CocoMo counters with a leg kick.

CocoMo tries to sprawl but Davis drives through with a takedown into half guard.
CocoMo trying to hold on to Davis's head to control him but Davis postures up.

Davis is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, CocoMo has managed to free his arm - good work.
Davis is trying to control. CocoMo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Davis not landing any meaningful shots this time.

CocoMo is looking to escape.

Davis is trying to work for a kimura but CocoMo is defending well.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but CocoMo defends the submission attempt.
CocoMo is looking to improve his position.
CocoMo is doing well to control the position and prevent Davis from advancing to side control.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

so CocoMo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Davis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from CocoMo.
CocoMo wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
CocoMo prevents Davis from getting back to his feet.
CocoMo trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
CocoMo stays in close to Davis's body and controls the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe CocoMo.

and CocoMo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davis's guard now.
CocoMo wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.
CocoMo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
CocoMo is breathing heavily.
Davis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst CocoMo is controlling him.
Davis trying to keep a closed guard but CocoMo is proving a slippery customer.

CocoMo tries to free his leg and advance position but Davis is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

CocoMo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe CocoMo wasn't active enough on the ground.
CocoMo scoring well with a low kick there.

Davis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Davis showed some decent athleticism there.
Davis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Davis seems to be looking for submissions.
Davis missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Davis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and CocoMo defends it well.
CocoMo is looking for a sweep. Davis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Davis trying to control from half guard but CocoMo is working away.

Davis is working for a kimura but CocoMo is defending it quite comfortably.

Davis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

CocoMo is looking to control Davis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can CocoMo avoid being mounted?

Joe CocoMo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Davis misses with a takedown

and CocoMo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davis's guard now.
CocoMo controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Davis wants to stand and escape but CocoMo is having none of it.
CocoMo stopping the sweep attempt from Davis.
Davis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
CocoMo stops Davis from standing up.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
CocoMo tries to stand but Davis is controlling from the bottom.
CocoMo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe CocoMo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and CocoMo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Davis won't be happy with that.
CocoMo prevents Davis from escaping the position.
Davis is not content to let CocoMo control the position.
Davis is trying to control CocoMo's posture but CocoMo avoids it.

Davis pushes CocoMo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, CocoMo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Davis is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked CocoMo off and has taken his back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
CocoMo has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Davis.
CocoMo is trying to break free.

Davis looking for the choke but no joy.

CocoMo looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Joe CocoMo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Davis sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! CocoMo taps out!
